Man, 30, Critically Injured in Redding Crash at Oasis Road and Akrich Street
REDDING, CA (July 18, 2022) – A man was critically injured after a DUI crash at Oasis Road and Akrich Street in Redding.
According to the Action News Now and KRCRTV News, the accident took place on Sunday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 8:09 a.m.
The incident happened on July 17 when a Dodge Ram was going north on Old Oregon Trail. At the same time, a Ford Focus was traveling west on Oasis Road, approaching Akrich Street, in Redding.
Police said the pickup truck then slammed into the other car in the intersection.
Drunk Driver Hits Another Car
The 30-year-old man driving the Ford sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision. Paramedics rushed him to the UC Davis Medical Center and listed him in critical condition.
The report did not disclose the name of the victim. Meanwhile, police determined that the driver of the Dodge was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana when he hit the other vehicle.
They soon arrested the suspect on felony DUI. Officers forced the area of Oasis Road and Akrich Street to shut down for a time following the wreck.
