Redlands Motorcycle Accident I-10 Freeway, Cypress Avenue (May 20)
REDLANDS, Calif. (May 20, 2026) — A motorcyclist was injured in a collision involving a white Mercedes SUV early Wednesday morning on the westbound Interstate 10 Freeway near Cypress Avenue in Redlands, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported on May 20th at approximately 6:46 a.m. on Interstate 10 West, east of Cypress Avenue, police said. The motorcycle rider and a white Mercedes SUV were involved. Emergency callers reported the rider was down in the roadway and lying in the No. 2 lane.
Authorities indicated the motorcyclist was conscious and breathing but had reportedly sustained chest pain following the collision. California Highway Patrol logs later described the incident as a motorcycle versus vehicle crash involving at least three vehicles, with the rider remaining on the ground as multiple westbound lanes became blocked.
By approximately 6:50 a.m., traffic cameras showed the motorcyclist lying in the No. 3 lane while additional vehicles blocked the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 lanes, causing significant traffic disruption during the morning commute.
Responding emergency personnel requested that the rider not be moved while medical crews worked at the scene. The injured motorcyclist was later transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center with what were described as minor injuries.
Tow services were requested to remove the damaged motorcycle and involved vehicles from the freeway. By approximately 7:12 a.m., all lanes had reopened after authorities moved the vehicles to the right-hand shoulder.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
