Deadly, 3-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 in Redwood City

 Redwood City Fatal Crash Highway 101, Woodside Road (May 25)REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (May 25, 2021) — A Redwood City fatal crash involving three vehicles happened early Tuesday morning on U.S. Highway 101.

The deadly car accident happened in the northbound lanes of the highway just before 4 a.m. on May 25th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The drivers of a white utility van and a red pickup truck collided in the center lanes, leaving the pickup truck facing the wrong direction in traffic lanes. The white van managed to pull over to the shoulder, but the pickup was stopped and facing the wrong way. Meanwhile, a second white van approaching the scene crashed head-on into the disabled pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck, described by police a 51-year-old San Jose man, died at the scene, according to CBS KPIX 5 News. The driver in the second white van suffered an arm fracture.

The incident took place on the highway between Marsh Road and Woodside Road.

Police are investigating the initial cause of the Redwood City fatal crash to determine if speed, drugs or alcohol were factors.
