1 Killed; 2 Injured
REDWOOD CITY, California (September 8, 2016) – A deadly solo-car accident occurred Thursday afternoon on Highway 35, also known as Skyline Boulevard, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch team.
The crash took place at approximately 2:10 p.m., just north of Page Mill Road.
In an article by Patch, CHP said a 17-year-old driver was apparently traveling at a high rate of speed south on Skyline when he lost control of a BMW.
The teen then swerved into the northbound lane, plunged down an embankment on the opposite side of the road and struck two trees.
As per the report, the front passenger, a 19 year-old San Martin resident, died at the scene. Another occupant, a 19-year-old San Jose resident, was seriously injured and was transported to Stanford Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, CHP added that the 17-year-old San Jose motorist sustained minor injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
