Pedestrian Struck by SUV in Bermuda Dunes Area of Riverside County
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (Jan. 8, 2021) – Regina Avila, 48, of Palm Desert, died Thursday night in a pedestrian accident in the Bermuda Dunes area of Riverside County.
The fatal collision happened at 5:24 p.m. at Washington Street and Hidden River Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver of a blue Chevrolet Tahoe SUV struck the victim. It’s unknown at this time if the woman was in a crosswalk. Despite efforts by arriving paramedics, Regina Avila died at the scene.
Regina Avila ID’d as Pedestrian Killed in Washington Street Crash
The Riverside County Sheriff Coroner identified Regina Avila as the victim. Meanwhile, authorities closed down Washington Street to traffic in both directions, the CHP reported. The driver involved in the crash stopped and is cooperating with authorities. Also, police do not suspect alcohol or drugs were factors.
Furthermore, witnesses may contact police to help them solve liability for the crash.
