Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Interstate 8
El Cajon, CA (March 19, 2023) – Reginald Burke, 48-year-old man, died following a pedestrian accident that occurred on the Interstate 8 Freeway.

The San Diego Union-Tribune News reported a Kia Cadenza struck a person on the freeway just west of Main Street. Officials said the collision took place on March 12, Sunday, around 8:20 p.m.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident in El Cajon
When emergency crews arrived at the location, they found the pedestrian suffering in serious injuries. Responding paramedics performed life-saving efforts to the victim but he sadly succumbed to his injuries before he could be taken to a hospital. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office recently identified the deceased as Reginald Burke, a homeless man.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Kia reportedly sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Detectives assigned to handle the case continue to investigate liability in the deadly accident that happened on Interstate 8 Freeway in El Cajon.
