SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (Nov. 2, 2017) —Reina Madrid, 53, of Phelan, and her 17 year old daughter, Gisseth Madrid were killed Wednesday when their van collided with a big rig truck on State Route 138.
The fatal crash took place about 2 p.m., roughly six miles west of the 15 Freeway near Rockview Road. Reina Madrid was driving a Dodge Ram 3500 van west on State Route 138 when she allegedly drifted across the center line and struck a big rig truck. The impact caused the van to overturned multiple times.
The mother and daughter both died of their injuries at the scene of the crash.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
At this time police will look into whether or not there was a dangerous condition present in the road or if there were mechanical defects or problems that contributed to the crash.
