Reynold Lester, Asherey Ryan and Several Others Killed in Windsor Hills Crash
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CA (August 6, 2022) – A crash at La Brea and Slauson avenues killed Reynold Lester in Windsor Hills.
Family members identified the 24-year-old man as one of the victims in the fatal wreck which took place on Thursday.
The incident happened when Reynold Lester, pregnant Asherey Ryan and her 11-month-old son were on their way to a checkup in the Windsor Hills community.
At the same time, a Mercedes-Benz coupe was going at least 80 mph in the area. The car then ran a red light at the intersection of La Brea and Slauson avenues.
The California Highway Patrol said the Mercedes slammed into several other vehicles traveling east and west on Slauson. One of the victim cars was the vehicle of the Los Angeles family.
8 Injured in Wreck
Two vehicles became fully engulfed in flames upon impact. The KTLA News and ABC 7 News wrote that the accident occurred on August 4 shortly after 1:30 p.m.
Reynold Lester, 23-year-old Asherey Ryan, the young boy and the unborn child died as a result of the crash. Loved ones set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral costs of the victims.
Officers also pronounced two other women and a man dead following the collision. The 33-year-old driver of a Chevrolet Traverse, a 1-year-old boy and three teenagers sustained moderate injuries in the wreck.
The other two teens in the Chevrolet and the 19-year-old motorist in an Audi A3 survived with minor injuries. The speeding driver, 37-year-old Nicole Lorraine Linton, obtained moderate injuries.
CHP took her into custody at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Westwood on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. The Windsor Hills crash is still under investigation.
