Deadly Fiery Crash Caused by Semi-Truck on I-10, Several Injured
RIALTO (February 16, 2018)- According to the California Highway Patrol, a deadly fiery crash was reported Friday afternoon on I-10 at the Riverside Avenue off-ramp just before 1:00 p.m.
Semi-Truck Plowed Through Center Divider Into Oncoming Traffic
Preliminary investigations have indicated that a big rig headed westbound plowed through the center divider for unknown reasons veering into eastbound traffic triggering a massive collision with at least eight other cars.
Following the collision, the truck became fully engulfed in flames as the fire department was immediately called upon to arrived and extinguish the flames.
At this time, it has been confirmed that a least one person suffered fatal injuries while an unknown number of other motorists suffered injuries ranging from minor to very serious requiring them to be transported to hospitals.
Hard Closure of I-10 for Up to 8 Hours
A hard closure of both eastbound and westbound on I-10 was enforced by California Highway Patrol. Westbound lanes were estimated to be shut down for approximately three hours while eastbound lanes for at least eight hours.
