2 Killed in Rialto Wrong-Way Crash on Eastbound 210 Freeway
RIALTO, CA (June 28, 2021) – At least two were killed after a wrong-way crash on the 210 Freeway near Pepper Avenue in Rialto.
According to an article published by the ABC 7 News, the tragic accident took place on Monday evening. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 7:30 p.m.
The incident began when a car was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of the 210 Freeway in Rialto. The wrong-way driver veered across lanes and then slammed into other vehicles.
Wrong-Way Driver Hits Several Cars
The California Highway Patrol said one of the cars involved became engulfed in flames upon impact. Multiple people ended up trapped inside the burning vehicle.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and confirmed that two people died as a result of the collision. Officials did not mention if any other party sustained injuries in the wreck.
The names of the deceased individuals remain unreleased pending notification of next of kin. The fatal Rialto crash is still under investigation.
Meanwhile, CHP forced both the westbound and eastbound lanes of the 210 Freeway to shut down for several hours following the collision.
