Ricardo Meza, 24, ID’d as Suspect in Palm Desert Fatal Car Crash
PALM DESERT, CA (March 3, 2022) – Authorities detained Ricardo Meza after a car crash that killed several people last year in Palm Desert.
Deputies identified the 24-year-old Palm Desert man as the suspect in the fatal wreck which occurred on December 28, 2022.
The incident happened when Ricardo Meza was driving a 2021 Honda Accord at a high rate of speed west on Fred Waring Drive in Palm Desert.
At the same time, a 2015 Nissan Sentra was trying to make a turn in the area of Fred Waring and Adonis drives. Officers said speeding driver then struck the Nissan at the intersection.
3 Killed in Wreck
The Desert Sun and My News LA wrote that the collision took place at about 7:15 p.m. Three people riding the Sentra ended up trapped inside their as a result of the accident.
All three occupants died at the scene of the incident. The coroner’s office identified the victims as Elena Morron, 84, of Los Angeles; and Abel Alvarado, 69, and Yolanda Alvarado, 65, both of Anza.
Ricardo Meza survived the crash with non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics arrived and rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, deputies soon arrested and booked Ricardo Meza into the John Benoit Detention Center. The Palm Desert crash is still under investigation.
