Richard Ameral, 64, Killed in Placerville Hit-and-Run on Broadway Drive
PLACERVILLE, CA (May 1, 2021) – Richard Ameral was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Broadway Drive in Placerville.
Police identified the 64-year-old man as the victim of the fatal accident which occurred last week on Friday night.
The incident happened on April 23 when Richard Ameral was walking along the stretch of Broadway Drive near Airport Road in Placerville. At the same time, an Infiniti G35 was going east.
Police said for an unknown reason, the car struck the pedestrian. According to the Mountain Democrat and FOX 40 News, officers reported the collision at about 8:30 p.m.
Driver Hits Pedestrian, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found Richard Ameral left lying on the ground as a result of the crash. He sustained major injuries from the impact.
Medical personnel then rushed the transient man to the hospital, where he died. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the male driver of the Infiniti initially stopped after hitting Ameral.
The motorist sped away and fled east on Broadway. Officials soon located the suspect and his vehicle at his home in Placerville.
Authorities arrested and booked him into the El Dorado County Jail on vehicular manslaughter charges. The tragic hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
