Man Killed in Bakersfield Bicycle Accident
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Feb. 12, 2019) – Richard Arnez Armstrong Sr., 60, has been identified as the bicyclist who was struck and killed in a car accident Monday night in Southeast Bakersfield.
Police say a Bakersfield man riding a bicycle was traveling westbound on Alloway Lane when he reportedly entered the Oswell Street intersection about 10 p.m. The rider’s bicycle did not have any lights or reflectors and the rider reportedly did not stop for traffic. The victim was struck by a driver in a Dodge and died at the scene.
The California Highway Patrol responded and they are heading up the investigation. The preliminary results indicate that drugs and or alcohol were not factors in the crash.
The Kern County coroner’s office identified the bicyclist.
