Canadian Motorcycle Rider Killed in Crash on Montezuma Valley Road
BORREGO SPRINGS, Calif. (March 29, 2022) — Richard Arthur Carpentier, 65, of British Columbia, died in a motorcycle crash on Montezuma Valley Road in Borrego Springs.
The deadly crash happened about 11:09 a.m. on March 25th, just west of Pam Canyon in San Diego County, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The motorcyclist was traveling on his bike in a westbound direction when he allegedly crossed into the eastbound lane at a curve in the roadway. The rider collided with the left rear bumper of an oncoming pickup truck towing a trailer that was heading eastbound.
The rider suffered major injuries when he was ejected from the bike into the roadway.
Sadly, he died at the scene of the accident. The coroner later identified the victim as Richard Carpentier of Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia.
The California Highway Patrol is heading up an investigation into liability.
