Richard Heard Jr., 55, Killed in Hayward Hit-and-Run Near Tennyson and Dickens
HAYWARD, CA (June 25, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash killed Richard Heard Jr. near Tennyson Road and Dickens Avenue in Hayward.
Police identified the 55-year-old Oakland man as the victim of the fatal accident which occurred last week on Wednesday.
The incident happened when Richard Heard Jr. was riding a bicycle in Hayward. For an unknown reason, a vehicle struck him near the intersection of West Tennyson Road and Dickens Avenue.
Bicycle Rider Hit by Car in Hayward
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene near the Jack-In-The-Box and a Shell gas station. They then found the bicyclist left lying on the ground as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon rushed the cyclist to the Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, where he died. East Bay Times and KTVU News wrote that the crash took place on June 16 between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid and fled the area. They described the car as a dark-colored full-size pickup truck.
The Hayward collision is still under investigation. Family members of Richard Heard Jr. set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral expenses of the hit-and-run victim.
