Richard Madrid, 38, ID’d as Suspect in Rialto Fatal DUI Crash
RIALTO, CA (June 12, 2022) – Authorities detained Richard Madrid after a fatal DUI crash at Riverside Avenue and Third Street in Rialto.
Police believed that the 38-year-old Fontana man was under the influence of alcohol when the collision occurred on Wednesday night.
The incident began when Richard Madrid was driving a black 2018 Mercedes C63 at a high rate of speed north on Riverside Avenue in Rialto.
At the same time, a 2011 Chevrolet HHR was going east on Third Street. Police said the speeding motorist then struck the Chevrolet in the intersection.
The Fontana Herald News wrote that the wreck took place on June 8 at about 9:15 p.m. The two cars crashed in the 300 block of North Riverside Avenue.

The two occupants of the Chevrolet, Juan Cordova and Priscilla Hernandez, sustained significant injuries as a result of the accident.
Paramedics rushed the two Colton residents to the hospital, where the 40-year-old female passenger died. The driver remained in stable condition.
Richard Madrid survived the crash with minor wounds. Medical personnel took him for further aid and later discharged him.
Police soon arrested and charged Richard Madrid with murder following the DUI incident. They booked him into West Valley Detention Center in lieu of a $2.5 million bail.
Records showed that he has four DUI-related convictions. He was on felony probation out of Riverside County from 2016 to 2019 for DUI with three or more prior convictions within the past 10 years.
