Fatal Traffic Collision Near Center School Road
Somis, CA (June 15, 2022) – Richard McIver, a 76-year-old man, died following a car accident that occurred on Highway 118 near Center School Road.
According to Ventura County Star News, McIver was behind the wheel of a 1971 Izusu truck heading west on the highway in Somis. Earlier reports indicated a 2006 Toyota Tundra pickup attempted to pass the Izusu. For reasons still unclear, McIver swerved to avoid the Toyota and ended up driving into the path of an eastbound semitrailer carrying lumber. Officials said the McIver crashed head-on with the truck.

The force from the impact instantly killed the driver of the Izusu. The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased as Richard McIver of Moorpark.
