Man Killed, Richard Root Badly Injured in Woodland Car Crash
WOODLAND (September 27, 2018) – One was killed and another was badly injured after a traffic collision on the Interstate 5 Freeway Thursday afternoon, according to CBS Sacramento and FOX 40.
The accident involving four vehicles took place at around 4 p.m., north of County Road 102.
As per the reports, California Highway Patrol said 36-year-old Robert Snow was driving a 2017 Dodge Ram behind three stopped cars in the far left lane of the southbound 5 Freeway when he allegedly failed to slow, stop, or turn his vehicle in time.
The Oakhurst man then struck a 2016 Ford Edge which was pushed onto 2012 Ford Fiesta, and a 2016 Cadillac.
Elizabeth Karns Arrested For DUI and Hit-and-Run
CHP affirmed that the driver of the Ford Edge, a 58-year-old Williams man, died as a result of the crash. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
The motorist in the Ford Fiesta, Carmichael resident Richard Root, was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
Meanwhile, the sole occupant of the Cadillac, 58-year-old Elizabeth Karns, reportedly took off but was later found and arrested for DUI and fleeing the scene. The Lakehead woman sustained minor injuries in the wreck.
The incident remains under investigation.
*We offer our prayers and most heartfelt condolences to the family members and friends of the deceased man during such a difficult time.
Wrongful Death and Personal Injury Lawyer
In this case, the operator of the Dodge Ram may be held liable for causing the incident. Authorities will continue to investigate the collision and determine whether or not the driver of the first car that was stopped on the freeway at the time also played a role in the tragic crash. That motorist is also accused of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and of fleeing the scene. DUI and hit-and-run are both considered as serious crimes in the state, and have corresponding criminal charges and penalties for the suspect.
The surviving family of the deceased man and Mr. Richard Root may possess the right to pursue a wrongful death and personal injury lawsuit seeking a recompense for the funeral costs, hospital bills, lost wages, pain and suffering and loss of love and companionship.
