As per the article, the accident prompted a Sig Alert that lasted until 9:10 a.m. to give way to the investigation. As of posting, authorities have not yet released additional details on the case.
This specific collision was the fifth traffic alert on Monday, among the non-related series of accidents on the Bay Bridge freeways.
Motorcycles are smaller and less visible than cars and trucks. This simple comparison explains why riding a motorcycle is riskier than driving a car or any enclosed vehicle. Recent statistics posted an average of 11,700 motorcyclists injured yearly in California. According to authorities, the primary factors contributing to motorcycle accidents are unsafe speed, alcohol or drug use, improper turning, riding on the wrong side of the road, and failing to yield.
