1 Seriously Injured in Richmond Crash on 80 Freeway Near Cutting Boulevard
RICHMOND, CA (September 5, 2020) – A chain-reaction collision along the Interstate 80 Freeway left at least one person seriously injured on Friday night.
The California Highway Patrol officers reported the first incident on September 4 at about 9:47 p.m. while the second accident at around 10:18 p.m.
According to the dispatch, the first crash involved a Toyota Tacoma and a Hummer SUV on the westbound 80 Freeway just east of Cutting Boulevard.
The Hummer then slammed into the center divider and ended up with major damage upon impact. The Toyota sustained major front-end damage as a result of the crash.
Multi-Car Accident on 80 Freeway in Richmond Friday
The second wreck happened when three vehicles collided on the eastbound 80 Freeway, just west of Cutting. CHP described one of the cars involved as a Honda Civic with major front-end damage.
Fire department officials along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found one individual unconscious and suffering from major injuries following the collision.
An air ambulance transported the patient to John Muir Health, Walnut Creek Medical Center for treatment. The name and condition of the wounded party at this time were not disclosed.
Meanwhile, officers forced all lanes of both sides of the freeway to shut down due to the two separate accidents. The investigation is ongoing.
