2 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in Richmond Crash on Westbound 80 Freeway
RICHMOND (September 29, 2019) – A traffic collision killed two people and seriously injured another along the 80 Freeway early Sunday morning.
According to reports by East Bay Times and KRON 4 News, the fatal accident took place at around 4 a.m. near the Barrett Avenue off-ramp.
California Highway Patrol said at least four vehicles collided for an unknown reason in the westbound lanes of the 80 Freeway. One of the cars involved, a Honda CRV, caught fire upon impact.

Paramedics responded to the scene and confirmed that an occupant in the burning vehicle and another party in a Nissan Altima died as a result of the crash.
A third individual was immediately taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland with serious injuries. The names of the deceased and wounded victims have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced all lanes of 80 westbound from the San Pablo Avenue off-ramp to shut down for nearly four hours following the wreck. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
