Ridgecrest: Fatal Car Crash on State Route 178

At Least 1 Killed in Collision at SR-178 and Pinto Street

Ridgecrest, CA (April 5, 2023) – The California Highway Patrol group reported a deadly traffic accident that occurred in the area of State Route 178 and Pinto Street Wednesday, April 5.

Officials said two vehicles collided at the junction in Ridgecrest around 3:25 p.m. Earlier reports indicated the horrible crash involved a Nissan Versa, and a white Chrysler 300. The force from the impact reportedly caused at least one vehicle to roll over several times.

Deadly Car Accident in Ridgecrest

When emergency crews arrived at the location, they immediately checked the conditions of all parties involved in the wreck. Responding paramedics later sadly pronounced on person dead. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.

Detectives assigned to handle the case stayed at the scene the whole afternoon. They continue to investigate exactly how and why the deadly car accident happened at State Route 178 and Pinto Street.
