Motorcycle Rider Killed in Crash on Riverside Freeway
CORONA, Calif. (July 19, 2023) – Riley Myers, 26, of Rialto, died in a motorcycle accident Tuesday after colliding with a stalled vehicle towing a trailer on the Riverside 91 Freeway in Corona.
The two-vehicle crash occurred around 1 a.m. on July 18th, just east of Main Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicle towing a trailer came to a dead stop in the westbound middle lane of the freeway due to unknown circumstances. The motorcyclist was reportedly traveling behind it and was unable to avoid hitting the vehicle’s trailer, NBC News reported. The rider was ejected from the bike and thrown onto the freeway. Paramedics with the Corona Fire Department responded, but he died at the scene around 1:18 a.m.
The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner identified the victim on its website as Riley Myers.
There were two people in the other vehicle, but no injuries were reported.
Authorities are investigating the crash to determine fault for the rider’s death. It’s unknown if the trailer had rear lights or whether the rider attempted to avoid hitting it.
Investigators with the CHP’s Riverside office are working on the case.
