Head-on Crash in Crestline on Rim of the World Highway
CRESTLINE, Calif. (Sept. 7, 2021) — A multi-vehicle crash on the Rim of the World Highway (State Route 138) happened Tuesday in Crestline near State Route 18.
A driver in an SUV heading fast down the highway reportedly veered into oncoming traffic heading up the roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Rim of the World Highway Car Accident
The crash happened about 12:40 p.m. near Crestline Bridge between a gray Volkswagen and a black SUV, according to the report.
The vehicles were blocking the roadway following the collision. Police issued a SigAlert due to traffic congestion.
An ambulance and two tow trucks responded to the scene. It’s unknown how many were hurt in the crash or if anyone was hospitalized.
Meanwhile, the CHP is heading up an investigation into liability.
