Major Injury Collision on Highway 160 Wednesday
Rio Vista, CA (September 15, 2021) – At least one person suffered injuries following a car accident that occurred on State Route Highway 160 Wednesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch, two vehicles collided on the highway just north of Antioch Bridge. Officials described the cars involved in the wreck as a red Lexus or Acura sedan; and a silver SUV. For an unknown reason, the two automobiles collided near the crossroads in Sherman Island.
The force from the impact caused the silver SUV to roll down the embankment along Highway 101.

Shortly after 8:15 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the crash site. Firefighters at the scene extricated and pulled up to the roadway all parties found trapped in the wreckage. The CHP log confirmed at least one person sustained major injuries as a result of the wreck. An ambulance reportedly transported the patient to a hospital for treatment.
Additional details on the wreck have not been discussed thus far. At this time, detectives assigned to handle the case continue to investigate exactly how and why the car accident in Rio Vista happened.
