RIVERSIDE CITY, California (October 27, 2015) — A pedestrian suffered moderate injuries when he was struck Monday afternoon by a train at the intersection of Poarch Road and Watkins Drive, a report by the CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department stated.
Firefighters responded at about 5:24 p.m. to the scene of the train accident in the unincorporated County area just south of Riverside City.
The man who was struck was described as an elderly man. He was found on the inside portion of the railroad tracks, roughly a quarter mile north of the intersection. Paramedics rushed the injured man by ambulance to a local hospital to be treated for moderate injuries to his lower right extremities.
A full investigation into the cause of the accident is underway by police.
