Deadly Crash on Interstate 215 Freeway in Riverside
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Nov. 11, 2021) — A Riverside crash on the Interstate 215 Freeway Thursday morning left one person dead and six critically injured near Box Springs Road.
The deadly crash happened about 7 a.m. on Nov. 11, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP report stated an SUV occupied by seven people including children. The vehicle’s driver allegedly cut off an Enterprise moving truck in the southbound lanes.
Both vehicles crashed just after 7 a.m. and the occupants of the same vehicle became trapped after it crashed into a pillar at the gore point.
Riverside Fire Department sent paramedics to the scene to help the injured and firefighters used the Jaws of Life to cut them out of the vehicle. One child suffered a major head injury, others had major injuries and one person died at the scene.
Details about the collision are unclear, but the moving truck, a blue pickup and the victims’ vehicle may have all been involved.
Police temporarily closed down the 215 freeway due to the crash and investigation.
