1 Killed, 4 Injured in Central Avenue Car Crash
RIVERSIDE (July 12, 2018) – On July 7, Saturday, a fatal hit-and-run collision occurred on Central Avenue near the Interstate 91 Freeway.
According to Daily Bulletin, a pursuit was launched after someone was reportedly seen hot wiring the pickup near a Jack in the Box restaurant on Green River Road in Corona. The chase continued until the pickup left 91 Freeway and drove just inside the Riverside city limits.
Officials said the pursuit driver, later identified as 27-year-old Arthur Armando Alvarez, ran a red light on Central Avenue and crashed into another vehicle.
As per the article, a passenger in the chased pickup truck suffered fatal trauma in the incident. The identity of the deceased remained unknown pending notification of next of kin.
Furthermore, a third person in the pickup, and three people in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital following the collision. The names of the injured, and their conditions at this time have not been disclosed thus far.
Arthur Alvarez Arrested in Riverside Hit-and-Run Accident
Alvarez was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run in a collision that caused death, both felonies. He remained in custody Tuesday at the Robert Presley Detention Center.
