RIVERSIDE, California (Sunday, October 4, 2015) – The driver of a vehicle was killed this afternoon, after a crash on the westbound Interstate 91 Freeway near the Adams Street off-ramp, in Riverside. The man was thrown from his SUV. Riverside Fire Department personnel arrived and found the SUV on its side and the man on the ground. The man died at the scene, according to a Riverside Fire Department news release. The victim’s name has not been released.
A light pole was knocked over during the crash. Traffic in the area was blocked for about an hour while investigators collected evidence and cleared the accident.
The crash was reported at 12:52 p.m., according to Press Enterprise. A responding party stated that the driver had attempted to pass a car, overcompensated and flipped, according to an additional California Highway Patrol report.
