1 Killed, 4 Injured in Rear-End Crash at La Sierra Avenue and Lake Knoll Parkway
DATE OF COLLISION: Friday, December 28th
December 28, 2018 – One person was killed, and several others were injured after two vehicles collided in the area of La Sierra Avenue and Lake Knoll Parkway Friday afternoon.
According to the Press Enterprise, GMC Acadia was heading north on La Sierra and was waiting in a left-turn pocket when it was struck from behind by a Chevrolet pickup.
Responding paramedics reportedly rushed the GMC driver to Riverside Community Hospital, where they were listed in critical condition. Shortly after, the motorist was sadly pronounced deceased due to injuries sustained in the crash.
Authorities added three other people involved sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident.
The names of the deceased, and the injured parties have not been disclosed thus far.
Suspected DUI Driver Arrested After Deadly Car Accident in Riverside
Meanwhile, officials mentioned the driver of the Chevrolet was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence and driving under the influence causing great bodily injury. The identity of the DUI driver was not immediately available.
La Sierra Avenue was closed for more than an hour and a half after the collision. Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
