Woman, 51, Killed in Riverside Hit-and-Run at Van Buren and Wood
RIVERSIDE, CA (October 9, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash at Van Buren Boulevard and Wood Road in Riverside.
According to The Press Enterprise and My News LA, the tragic accident took place late Friday night. Officers reported the collision shortly after 11:50 p.m.
The incident happened on October 8 when a female pedestrian was walking northbound on Wood Road, trying to cross Van Buren Boulevard, in Riverside.
At the same time, a motorcyclist was traveling west on Van Buren. Police said for an unknown reason, the motorcycle rider then struck the 51-year-old woman in the intersection.
Pedestrian Hit by Motorcyclist
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the victim left lying on the ground. She sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon rushed the patient to a hospital where she died. Her name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorcyclist did not stop to render aid to the woman. The rider continued and fled westbound on Van Buren Boulevard.
Officers forced the area of Wood and Van Buren to shut down for a time following the incident. The fatal Riverside hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
