1 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in Head-On Crash on 60 Freeway
RIVERSIDE (July 15, 2018) – An alleged wrong-way crash killed one person and seriously injured two others on the 60 Freeway early Sunday morning, according to The Press Enterprise and KTLA.
California Highway Patrol initially received calls about a female motorist who was traveling west in a red Ford Mustang in the eastbound lanes of the 60 freeway near Pigeon Pass Road at 3:31 a.m. She allegedly drove more than 7 miles in the wrong direction.
A few moments later, the woman then collided head-on with a black Dodge van. The collision took place near Main Street.

CHP affirmed that the 23-year-old passenger in the Dodge was pronounced dead at the scene. The wrong-way driver and the operator of the Caravan, apparently in their early 20s, were both transported to the hospital with major injuries.
The names of the deceased and injured parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, all lanes of the eastbound freeway were forced to shut down following the wreck and were reopened at about 7:13 a.m.
The incident remains under investigation.
