At roughly 5:50 a.m., a 19-year-old woman driving a Nissan Sentra entered the intersection with a green light before being broadsided by the driver of a white Dodge van with license plate 5XGN087.
The impact of the crash sent the victim’s vehicle into an electrical pole and a water valve which ruptured.
Paramedics and the fire department arrived at the scene and initially had trouble prying open the door to extricate the victim. Once they were able to open the door, the victim was sadly pronounced dead due to traumatic injuries.
She was identified by her friends in KTLA as Linda Rodriguez, of Moreno Valley.
The driver of the van immediately took off from the crash site and was last seen near the cross streets of Indiana Avenue and Van Burne Boulevard. The Dodge was tracked down, leading up to the arrest of the suspect 59-year-old Erasto Gomez.
