RIVERSIDE, California (November 6, 2016) – A 51-year-old man died after being struck by a car in the area of Van Buren Boulevard and Philbin Avenue on Saturday afternoon, according to The Press Enterprise.
He was identified by Riverside County Coroner’s Office as Martin Aleman Acuna, of Riverside.
As per the article, a statement released by the coroner’s office said Acuna was crossing Van Buren Boulevard at Philbin Avenue in the crosswalk when a Chevy Cavalier made a left turn out of a strip mall to go south on Van Buren.
Acuna was then hit by the vehicle driven by a 22-year-old motorist around 4:20 p.m.. He suffered major head trauma and was transported to Riverside Community Hospital.
The victim was on life support later in the evening, but succumbed to his injuries early Sunday.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident.
