Pedestrian Critically Injured in Riverside DUI Crash Near Magnolia and Skofstad
RIVERSIDE, CA (May 15, 2023) – A pedestrian was critically injured after a DUI crash near Magnolia Avenue and Skofstad Street in Riverside.
According to an article published by My News LA, the accident took place late Sunday night. Officers reported the collision on May 14 at around 10 p.m.
The incident happened when a 1999 Mercedes Benz was going west on Magnolia Avenue between Skofstad Street and La Sierra Avenue in the city.
Riverside police said for an unknown reason, the car struck a male pedestrian. The 36-year-old man was crossing near the intersection of Magnolia and Skofstad at the time.
Man Hit by Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then found the victim down on the ground. He sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the accident.
Medical personnel rushed the patient to the Riverside Community Hospital and listed him in critical condition. The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party.
Meanwhile, police determined that the 34-year-old Corona man driving the Mercedes was under the influence when he hit the man.
They soon arrested and booked him into the Robert Presley Detention Center for suspicion of DUI. Officers forced the area of Magnolia and Skofstad to shut down following the pedestrian collision.
The Riverside DUI crash is still under investigation.
