Man Killed in Pacoima Crash is Identified
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (July 25, 2023) – Robert Castellanos, 35, died Sunday morning in a multiple- vehicle Pacoima crash on the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the man on its website.
The traffic accident occurred at 2:48 a.m. on July 23rd in the eastbound lanes of the 118 Freeway at the Golden State (5) Freeway interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Firefighters and CHP officers responded to the scene. They located the 35-year-old man trapped in a vehicle and used hydraulic tools to extricate him. Sadly, he was pronounced deceased shortly after being freed.
Meanwhile, the CHP issued a SigAlert around 3:27 a.m. and closed down the eastbound lanes of the 118 Freeway at the I-5 Freeway.
An investigation into the cause of the crash and liability is underway by the CHP.
