Robert Cosio Killed in Escondido Bicycle Accident on East Valley Parkway

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (June 20, 2025) — Robert Cosio, 67, died after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in Escondido earlier this month, authorities confirmed.

The collision occurred on June 7 around 9:11 p.m. in the 1100 block of East Valley Parkway. According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, Cosio was riding his bicycle across the street when he was hit by a sedan. Emergency crews were called to the scene, but Robert Cosio was pronounced dead at 9:21 p.m. due to blunt force injuries.

The Escondido Police Department is investigating the incident. The manner of death was ruled an accident, and no contributing medical conditions were noted in the coroner’s report.

Cosio’s next of kin has been notified. Further details about the driver or potential charges have not yet been released.
