Hawaiian Man, 86, Identified as Victim of Crash on San Diego Freeway
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Sept. 7, 2023) – Robert Eiichi Teruya, 86, of Honolulu, Hi, has been identified as the passenger killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 Freeway in San Diego.
The fatal car accident occurred at around 4:30 a.m. on August 19th, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The Hawaiian man was a passenger in a Nissan SUV traveling southbound on the I-15, just north of Mira Mesa Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Meanwhile, a driver in a Scion sedan was also heading southbound on the 15 Freeway and collided with the Nissan. The driver in the Nissan crashed into the center divide before it wound up back in traffic lanes.
Paramedics responded and extricated Robert Eiichi Teruya from the Nissan, but sadly he died at the scene of the crash at 4:49 a.m. the same day.
It’s unknown at this time if others were hurt in the crash.
