Westminster Crossing Guard Killed in Traffic Accident
WESTMINSTER, Calif. (June 9, 2022) – Robert Polino Avila, 77, of Westminster, died Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle car accident on Goldenwest Street.
The crash occurred about 5:35 a.m. Tuesday, June 7th in the 14500 block of Goldenwest Street, according to the Westminster Police Department.
Police are now searching for witnesses to the fatal crash that killed the longtime city crossing guard and injured two other people.
Robert Polino Avila was driving a vehicle involved in a crash with another motorist. It’s unknown at this time what led up to the traffic accident, but police are asking for the public’s help.
The Westminster man suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Two other people including a passenger in his car suffered injuries in the crash.
The passenger from his car and the driver of the other car were both transported to UC Irvine Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.
