Robert Sanchez, 27; and Boy, 5, Seriously Injured in Harbor City Hit-and-Run Crash
LOS ANGELES, CA (July 11, 2021) – A fatal hit-and-run crash seriously injured Robert Sanchez near Normandie and Vermont avenues in Harbor City.
Family members identified the 27-year-old man and his two young children as the victims of the fatal wreck which occurred on Friday night.
The incident happened on July 9 when Robert Sanchez was driving north on Vermont Avenue in the Harbor City neighborhood. At the same time, another vehicle was parked on the east curb.
For an unknown reason, the other motorist pulled out and made an illegal U-turn near the intersection with Normandie Avenue. Robert Sanchez veered to avoid collision.
Girl, 4, Killed in Crash Near Normandie and Vermont
Police said his car overturned in the process and then struck a light pole. CBS Los Angeles and My News LA wrote that the accident took place at about 8:20 p.m.
Robert Sanchez and his two children sustained major injuries as a result of the Harbor City crash. Paramedics rushed them to area hospitals where one child, a 4-year-old girl, died.
Medical personnel listed the other juvenile, a 5-year-old boy, in critical condition. Loved ones set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral expenses of the deceased girl.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver who made the illegal turn did not stop to help and soon fled the area. The Harbor City hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
