Robert Schuute, 63, Suspect in 3 Separate Collisions Along Q Street
Bakersfield, CA (July 8, 2021) – Police arrested 63-year-old Robert Joseph Schuute in relation with multiple crashes that occurred in the streets of Bakersfield on June 10.

According to KGET News, Robert Schuute was driving a pickup traveling on Jewett Avenue. Primary reports indicated the suspect rammed another vehicle in the 4200 block of Jewett Avenue. Following the first collision, the pickup drove away.
Officials said when Robert Schuute approached the intersection of Q and West Columbus Street, he struck a pedestrian.
The article published online mentioned two occupants in the first car, and the pedestrian all sustained minor to moderate injuries as a result of the crash.
A third collision happened in the 3900 block of Q Street when Robert Schuute veered into the opposite lanes. The suspect slammed head-on into another vehicle driven by a 26-year-old man. Per local news source, the innocent driver succumbed to his injuries and died at a hospital.
Investigators reportedly performed tests and determined Robert Schuute was intoxicated at the time of the accident. Subsequently, officers booked the man into jail Tuesday following his release from a hospital. Furthermore, authorities charged Robert Schuute with attempted murder; gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated; three counts of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm; and hit-and-run resulting in property damage and resisting arrest.
Further investigation on the case is underway.
