Robert Trindade, 66, Killed in Knights Ferry Crash at Highway 108 and Kennedy
STANISLAUS COUNTY (August 18, 2019) – A driver was badly injured after a fatal traffic collision at Highway 108 and Kennedy Road Friday night.
The California Highway Patrol identified the wounded victim as 66-year-old Robert Trindade, a resident of Hilmar.
According to an article written by The Modesto Bee, the incident began when Trindade was driving a 2017 Infiniti Q70 sedan west on Highway 108 approaching Willms Road.
At the same time, a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox SUV was stopped in the southbound lane of Kennedy Road at the stop sign at the Highway 108 intersection.
The Equinox driven by 66-year-old Catherine Gibson was allegedly unable to yield to westbound traffic on the highway and pulled into the path of Trindade.

CHP affirmed that the front of the Infiniti struck the left side of the Chevrolet. The SUV rolled over end ended up on its right side within the westbound lane of the highway.
Trindade was rushed to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with moderate injuries. Catherine Gibson and her passenger, 61-year-old Jo Anne Gibson, were extricated after being trapped in the wreckage.
The two Douglas Flats residents were also taken to the same hospital where the older woman died. Jo Anne Gibson was treated for minor wounds.
Meanwhile, the incident remains under investigation. The deadly accident occurred on August 16 shortly before 10 p.m. near Knights Ferry, just west of the Stanislaus-Tuolumne County line.
