Vehicle Strikes, Kills Man Near Highway 101
Mendocino County, CA (July 30, 2022) – Robert Jay Watson, a 43-year-old man, died following a pedestrian accident that occurred on West Road offramp early Wednesday.
The Press Democrat News reported a vehicle struck a male party near Highway 101. Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was walking in a northerly direction on the offramp from the southbound side of SR-101. Our sources indicated a Chevrolet Traverse driving in the area struck the man wearing dark clothes.
The force from the impact knocked the victim down an embankment. Shortly after 4:20 a.m., rescue teams arrived and pulled the body from the dike. Paramedics at the scene performed life-saving measures to the man but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office later identified the fatal victim as Robert Jay Watson, of Stockton.
Meanwhile, no immediate information was available on the driver involved in the unfortunate event.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
