Acton, CA (July 19, 2021) – Police arrested 35-year-old Roberto Deloya in relation with a fatal DUI car crash on 14 Freeway on July 16, Friday.

The KHTS News reported Roberto Hernandez Deloya, of Palmdale, was driving a 2014 Buick heading north on the interstate. Officials said the Buick was traveling behind a 2002 Chevy pickup.

In the area near Puritan Mine Road, Roberto Deloya rear-ended the Chevrolet. Authorities believed the Buick failed to safely slow down, leading to the collision. The force from the impact caused the Chevrolet to overturn.

Emergency teams arrived at the crash site shortly after 1:15 a.m.

According to the article published online, the driver of the Chevrolet died as a result of the incident. The Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 48-year-old Humberto Gaytan Balderrama.

Officers added a passenger in the Chevrolet sustained major injuries from the incident. Paramedics rushed the patient to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, investigators reportedly determined Roberto Deloya was drunk at the time of the collision. Police then arrested the man on murder charges.

Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
