Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision at Highway 99 and Avenue 9
Madera County, CA (May 19, 2022) – Roberto Rivera Meza, a 65-year-old man, died following a suspected hit-and-run crash that occurred in the area of Highway 99 and Avenue 9.
The Fresno Bee News reported Meza was riding a motorcycle traveling east on Avenue 9. When the motorcyclist approached the crossing at Highway 99, a car reportedly drove into the path of Meza.
Officials said the rider avoided the crash. However, the evasive action caused Meza to thrown from the bike. The accident took place on May 10 at about 11:30 a.m.
Cyclist Dies in Madera County Motorcycle Accident
When emergency crews arrived at the location, they immediately rendered aid to the motorcyclist found lying on the ground. Paramedics rushed the victim to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later sadly died. The Madera County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identity of the deceased as Roberto Rivera Meza, of Madera.
The article published online mentioned the other driver involved in the catastrophic incident fled the scene. Investigators said they continue to search for the hit-and-run suspect, possibly driving a 2005-2010 Volkswagen Jetta.
Detectives continue to work at this time to determine several unclear factors surrounding the fatal crash in Madera County.
