Neri Ramirez Chalo, 22, Killed in Van Nuys Hit-and-Run Street-Racing Crash on Sepulveda
LOS ANGELES (November 5, 2019) – Authorities are searching for the alleged hit-and-run driver involved in illegal street-racing that killed a pedestrian along Sepulveda Boulevard Friday.
Police believed that 21-year-old Roberto Ocampo was driving a white Infiniti G37 at the time of the tragic crash in the Van Nuys area.
The accident happened on November 1 when the North Hills man was allegedly racing a white newer-model sedan. The incident occurred at about 10 p.m., just south of Hatteras Street.
At the same time, 22-year-old Van Nuys resident Neri Ramirez Chalo parked his car along the west curb of Sepulveda Boulevard.
Illegal Street Racer and Hit-and-Run Driver ID’d as Roberto Ocampo, 21
According to reports by KTLA and The Daily News, Chalo then started walking eastbound across the street when the Infiniti struck him.
Los Angeles Fire Department officials along with the paramedics responded to the site and pronounced Chalo deceased at the scene.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that Ocampo did not stop to render aid and fled the scene. Officers described the suspect as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
