Roberto Portillo Killed, Toddler Injured in Car Crash on Rose Avenue
OXNARD (May 25, 2018) – One person was killed in a traffic collision early Thursday on Rose Avenue, according to Ventura County Star.
The fatality was identified as 30-year-old Roberto Portillo, of Oxnard.
Preliminary investigation revealed Portillo was traveling in pickup north on Rose when, for unknown reasons, he crashed into a tree in the median of the roadway.
Responding medical personnel reportedly pronounced Portillo deceased at the scene.
Child, 2, Critical After Oxnard Car Accident
Meanwhile, authorities mentioned a 2-year-old boy was also found in the wreckage. The child was apparently buckled into a car seat at the time of the crash. The juvenile was transported by paramedics to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
Investigators with the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office said the case remained under investigation.
