Fatal DUI Collision Near Interstate 805
Kearny Mesa, CA (September 2, 2022) – Roberto Mendez Sanchez, a 49-year-old man, died following a suspected DUI crash that occurred on State Route 52.
The San Diego Union-Tribune News reported two vehicles collided head-on on the highway near Interstate 805. Preliminary investigation revealed Sanchez, of El Cajon, was behind the wheel of a Honda traveling west on SR-52. When Sanchez approached the area near 805 Freeway, an eastbound Chevrolet pickup veered into the opposite lanes. The two cars ended up crashing into each other.
Our sources indicated the catastrophic incident took place on August 26, Friday, shortly after 2:30 a.m.

When emergency crews arrived at the location, they immediately rendered aid to all parties involved in the wreck. Authorities later confirmed the driver of the Honda, Roberto Mendez Sanchez, sadly died in the crash.
The article published online mentioned detectives believed the driver of the Chevrolet had a blood-alcohol content twice the legal limit for driving. For this reason, police arrested the suspect on suspicion of drunken driving.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
