Deadly Crash on I-80 Freeway Involving Pedestrian
ROCKLIN, Calif. (August 13, 2024) — A fatal Rocklin pedestrian accident happened Tuesday on the westbound Interstate 80 Freeway, just east of State Route 65 in Rocklin.
A driver in a white Ford F-150 pickup truck reportedly hit the person in the roadway at 4:35 a.m. on August 13th, according to the California Highway Patrol. A white Volkswagen Jetta sedan and a third vehicle were also involved.
A witness told CHP officials the pedestrian “jumped over the center divider and into the No. 1 lane and then they heard the pedestrian get hit.”
The victim went down in the fast lane of the freeway and the responsible motorist pulled over and stopped.
Police issued a SigAlert for the westbound I-80 Freeway due to the crash.
The Rocklin Fire Department responded to the scene and confirmed the person’s death. The victim’s name, age and gender was not revealed. The Placer County Sheriff Coroner will release the person’s name after notifying relatives.
The Rocklin Police Department is heading up the investigation into the fatal Rocklin pedestrian accident on the Interstate 80 Freeway.
Finally, tow trucks removed the Jetta and possibly the truck from the scene.
