Rodney Patrick, 57, Killed in San Andreas Crash on Highway 49
SAN ANDREAS, CA (May 30, 2022) – A fatal crash left Rodney Patrick seriously injured on Highway 49 in San Andreas.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 57-year-old San Andreas man as the victim of the fatal wreck which took place on Saturday.
The incident happened when Rodney Patrick was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram north on Highway 49 in San Andreas. At the same time, a 2001 Ford Expedition was traveling a high rate of speed south.
CHP said the SUV crossed the line into the northbound lane, turned to the right and spun out of control. In the process, the Ford slammed into the pickup truck.
Speeding Driver Hits Another Car, Dies
The Calaveras Enterprise and My Mother Lode wrote that the two cars crashed south of Gold Strike Road. Both vehicles became engulfed in flames due to the impact of the collision.
Rodney Patrick ended up trapped inside the burning Ram as a result of the crash. An officer and bystanders freed him from the wreckage.
An air ambulance took the victim to the UC Davis for treatment of major injuries. The accident occurred on May 28 at around 5:12 p.m.
Meanwhile, CHP confirmed that the speeding male driver died following the incident. The San Andreas crash is still under investigation.
